Hit the Pavement

Monday, March 17th, 2008

It seems like tis the month for hitting the pavement. I have been from one end of the island to the other from one meeting to the next all in the hopes of getting us some work. I literally walked a hole through my soles. Nothing like the NYC pavement actually touching your feet. Talk about story’s you never forget. But despite the wind and rain…the tore soles and wet socks……there is that feeling of excitement when you get on a call or meet someone for the first time. That is how I know I am passionate about what I do…because I get excited trying to figure out how we can partner or help someone. They say that in sales you have to be able to deal with rejection well, I can dig that. But I also think that you need to embrace it. It’s redundant, but the best partnerships are the ones that have the best fit. Sometimes you can find yourself trying to mold your self or your pricing to fit someones needs. When that happens you set yourself up to bend from the beginning and may never recover. I say hold your ground and be honest about your approach, you may get a great partner out of it.

So off I go to another meeting and another after that. Let’s get some work!

A place in the universe

Today was the first day in the very first eROI office in NYC. It feels amazing to have my own door and desk. There is really something to be said for having your own four walls for work. I feel more focused…more permanent. For the first two months here I was lucky enough to be invited to work at Return Path. I meet some cool people and they were great hosts. But while am very thankful for their generosity I am even more thankful to be here now. So in honor of getting my new office check it….
