Tweetup NYC

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Hey Nation,
I had a great time at the NYC Tweet-up last night. I cant explain what Twitter is so if you don’t already know you better ask somebody. But the tweet up is a once a month event where users and adopters of twitter meet up in person and give a face to the @.
To be honest, I was so not in the mood to chat before I went out to the event but after a few minutes my attitude and outlook changed for the better. I met a ton of new people all of whom were smart and interesting. Totally refreshing to meet like minded people that are doing cool new things. I met some great behind the scene tweeters as well as some new ones. The event was right off the 8th street NRW near NYU at this Chinese themed bar/restaurant that looked like it had good food actually. I stuck with the Guinness which was tasty.
Thanks for the positive experience Tweeters. Now I better follow up with some of them.

Obama Blows up Twitter

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Hey Nation….
As expected Obama’s speech rocked the political world last night. What’s so interesting is his use of the internet and SMS to mobilize supporters and non-supporters alike. Through out his campaign he has leaned on technology to separate him from the crowd. Considering his opponent doesn’t even use a computer its a great strategy to reel in the youth and get them fired up. He blew up twitter and the internet again last night.

Wired reports:

“Traffic on the micro-blogging service Twitter immediately surged in the wake of Obama’s speech, in which he officially became the first African American to win the nomination of the Democratic party.

More than 6,500 tweets poured through the service in just 20 minutes Thursday night — most of them brief, two-line assessments of Obama’s performance on a historic night, the 45th anniversary of civil rights leader Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech. (Obama is the most popular person on Twitter, according to the tracking service Twitterholics.)”
